I don't know about 5 times the price of a Z, but a similar Z to a similar Supra, the Supra would cost twice as much. Many people like to say it is because of Fast and Furious, but Supras were very pricey even before that movie. The cars came out and never seemed to drop in value. They were $50,000 new until 97/98 when they droped to $40,000. Still today, 97 and 98 cars bring in the same price as they did when they were new. They are rare cars, with only 12,000 total and 6,000 Twin Turbos ever built for the US Market. There were around 40,000 Z's alone in 1990. The cars are easy to go fast with, while still being reliable. They are making 400RWHP+ on with just bolt ons, not many cars can do that. 700RWHP to in the Supra community is normal. Even in stock form they are nice cars. They are running low to mid 13's stock, pull 1G on the skid pad and have incredible brakes. All that and the fact its a Toyota is the reason why they are priced more then Z's. I don't think they are hyped because there are plenty of fast ones around from deep into the 9's all the way to 10's for the fastest 50.
